- What about car rental? Shall we rent a car (at what places)? (I guess no need to mostly, maybe between Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan, but the buses might be OK and even more fun :))
- Another thing: to enter Philippines (I assume we start at Manila), we'll need valid outbound tickets. If we don't posses Philippines→Malaysia tickets at this time, we won't be able to fulfill the requirements (a stay of max 21 days)... So that is why I made a note in my "to check" if it is not better to play it safe and get longer visa (btw., Philippines' embassy is just 200 metres from my office).
- Total time: Lets assume April 21 as departure day (April 22 in Manila). We have roughly the folling options (all dates of departure):
- 21-day trip: April 21 – May 12 (absolutely no visa problems but generally a bit short; we should choose this only if business@home/formalities require it)
- 30-day trip: April 21 – May 21 (looks excellent to me)
- 40-day trip: April 21 – May 31 (might be a bit too long, but I am generally open to it, if we find many interesting things to see during our research)
- ... We should decide on this fairly soon, lest the short-notice ticket prices rise to unbearable hights. (Regarding this, the aerolines issue the seasonal prices, the recent season is 1.1. - 31.3. The prices and bonanzas for 1.4. - 30.6. should be available around 7th March. So even in my reservation the price is aproximate.)

(what P. Petras wrote: C. dentata is abundant as wekk as C. amboinensis .... H.spinosa and H. leytensis are rather on north of island, near town Taytata -- interesting is to go by boat through mangroves there, or on a lake Danao (they rent kayaks), the lake has 600ha square (water monitors, eagles and other birds, monkeys). The bes forest should be around the reservation Malampaya Sound. )
- Carnivorous plants up in the forests at Luzon should be one of the best places in the world
- In North Luzon, old small towns may give the impression about the old Spanish colony
- a friend asked me to buy the seed of Ipomea aquatica, locally called Kangkong. The herbivorous turtles are just mad about that, he said. :)
